The Life House is a residential treatment facility that offers substance abuse treatment to men ages 18 and older. While at The Life House, clients are involved in various therapeutic, recreational and community recovery-oriented activities. Each client is assigned a clinician upon admission and given a thorough intake interview following which an individualized treatment plan is developed. Clients engage in weekly one-to-one counseling sessions in addition to a multitude of group activities which focus on: chemical dependency, sharing "life stories," recovery values, anger management, grief and loss, relationships, character defects, recreation, vocational skills, social skills and daily living skills.

The Life House utilizes the following treatment modalities:
  • Corrective Thinking (True Thought)
  • Strength Based Counseling Techniques
  • Seeking Safety
  • 12 Step Meetings
  • Motivational Enhancement
  • Solution Focused Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioral Coping Skills Therapy
  • Family Involvement
During treatment, men receive 30 hours per week of intensive, structured, staff facilitated group activities, which focus on all aspects of chemical dependency.

Family involvement is incorporated into the weekly schedule each Monday on Family Day. Family Days include an educational component relating to family issues (family dynamics, effects of alcohol and drugs on the family and family rules).

The Life House provides the following community living components: daily schedule of activities, weekly community meetings, participation in activities that would be found in a home, adequate space for personal privacy and security of property, home-like and comfortable setting, availability for placing/hanging personal possessions/decorations and daily access to nutritious meals and snacks. Appropriate space is available for quiet areas and visiting areas.
